Hailey National Park was made in 1936, better known today as Jim Corbett National Park, after a British-Indian hunter who lived most of his early life hunting down man-eating tigers and leopards in the Garhwal and Kumaon region of Uttarpradesh and Uttarakhand. With his political influence and his eye for conservation of natural habitat for endangered wild-life in India, especially the Bengal Tiger, Jim Corbett National Park today stands tall as a conservation wild-life sanctuary in the sub-himalayan belt showcasing ecological characteristics. A wide variety of trees, mammals, bird species and reptile species can be found in this dense moist deciduous forest which has proven to be a major tourist attraction in the past years.
