Overview

This 9 nights, 10 days High Altitude Yoga & Wellness Retreat in Spiti Valley is designed as a complete circular Himalayan journey, where the road never repeats itself and each day opens a new landscape. Beginning from Chandigarh, the journey moves gradually through Shimla and the serene Kinnaur Valley, entering the stark and powerful terrain of Spiti Valley. Along the way, we explore ancient spaces like Nako and Tabo, visit some of the highest inhabited villages in the world including Kibber, and witness the raw beauty of high-altitude Himalayan life.

Daily yoga, breathwork, meditation, and sound practices are gently adapted for altitude, supporting the body and nervous system as the journey unfolds through Losar and the pristine waters of Chandratal, before descending via Manali to complete the circle. Curated as wellness during travel, this retreat blends conscious movement, sacred landscapes, and inner inquiry, held spiritually by Anandmaya Rishikesh and seamlessly managed by Incredible Outdoors - a journey that moves outward through the Himalayas and inward toward clarity and stillness.

Solo Journey, Found a Tribe

Came alone, left with lifelong friends. A small group of 14 people meant everyone connected deeply. Evening sharing circles after long days became therapy sessions - everyone was vulnerable and authentic. Morning yoga felt like practicing with family. Kalpa night sky observation started our bonding. Nako Lake meditation deepened it. By the time we reached Kaza and did the group astrology session, we were sharing life stories openly. Langza, Hikkim, Komic - we explored these villages together, each view more stunning. Chandrataal night under stars with this tribe doing silent meditation was transcendent. The closing circle was emotional. If you're traveling solo, don't worry - you won't be alone for long.

Breath by Breath, Step by Step

Altitude scared me initially but the breathwork focus made all the difference. Every session taught techniques for oxygen efficiency. Nako I was handling it well. By Kaza I felt strong. The grounding breathwork in Shimla, the breath awareness at Nako, the pranayama for the nervous system at Tabo - each built on the previous one. Morning yoga became my favorite routine. Silent meditation at Tabo after seeing those ancient murals was intense. Visiting the Hikkim post office made me laugh - never thought posting a letter could feel so epic. Chandrataal meditation was pure magic. Closing gratitude practice at Manali left me in tears. Simple food, clean rooms, extraordinary experiences. So grateful I did this.

Circular Journey, Complete Experience

The circular route design is genius. You start from plains, gradually rise through Shimla and Kinnaur, enter the stark Spiti, peak at Kunzum Pass and Chandrataal, then descend back through Manali. Your body, mind and spirit all make this journey together. Daily yoga adapted beautifully for each altitude zone. The Kalpa to Nako transition was when I really felt entering the Himalayas. Tabo Monastery's 11th century energy was palpable. Kaza exploration days visiting highest villages gave perspective on life. The astrology sessions under Spiti's clear skies connected cosmic patterns with personal journeys. Last morning yoga at Manali before returning to Chandigarh was bittersweet. Every element is well planned by Incredible Outdoors teams.

Mountains as Teachers

I'm a yoga teacher from Copenhagen and was curious about high-altitude practice. I learned so much. The way they adapted vinyasa for altitude, the emphasis on pranayama for oxygen efficiency, the integration of astrology with landscape - it all worked beautifully. Kinner Kailash views from Kalpa were stunning. Nako Monastery and Lake set the spiritual tone. Tabo's ancient wisdom day was powerful - that monastery has serious energy. The group sessions about chart, karma and soul evolution at Kaza were enlightening. Komic village at that height was humbling. Chandrataal was pristine and perfect. Well-structured retreat that honors both the practice and the land. Highly recommended for serious practitioners.

Cold Desert, Warm Hearts

Traveling from Russia to India for a yoga retreat sounded crazy to my friends but I'm so glad I did it. The transition from green Shimla to cold desert Nako was dramatic. Morning yoga in that landscape felt otherworldly. The Key Monastery visit on integration day was perfectly timed - needed that pause to absorb everything. The Kunzum Pass at 4,551m was challenging but the feeling of crossing it after days of practice was triumphant. Chandrataal lived up to its name - Moon Lake really does look like you're on another planet. Stargazing there with the group sharing silence was intimate and beautiful. Wellness during travel is exactly what this was. The team handled everything smoothly.
