Ladakh is not just a destination. It is a landscape that invites stillness, reflection, and deep connection with yourself.

Journey Within – A Ladakh Self-Discovery Retreat is a unique blend of wellness and travel, designed for those who wish to explore the Himalayas while also exploring their inner world. Over nine days, we travel through the breathtaking high-altitude deserts, ancient monasteries, and pristine lakes of Ladakh while immersing ourselves in practices that support clarity, balance, and self-awareness.

Each day combines yoga, conscious breathwork, meditation, and astrology insights with meaningful travel experiences. The powerful Himalayan environment naturally slows the mind and opens space for reflection, allowing participants to reconnect with themselves in a deeper way.

From sunrise practices in the mountains to silent moments beside the turquoise waters of Pangong Lake, this retreat offers a rare opportunity to step away from daily life and experience the healing rhythm of the Himalayas.

Along the journey, participants will also explore the wisdom of astrology as a tool for self-understanding, helping them reflect on life cycles, personal patterns, and future direction.

Through the combination of wellness practices, Himalayan exploration, and cosmic insight, Ladakh becomes more than a place you visit. It becomes a space where transformation quietly unfolds.

Retreat Highlights

Yoga & Breathwork in the Himalayas

Begin and end each day with grounding practices of yoga and conscious breathwork in the quiet presence of the Himalayan mountains. At Ladakh’s high altitude, the breath becomes a powerful guide for both physical adaptation and inner awareness.

Morning sessions gently awaken the body, increase oxygen capacity, and prepare you for the day’s explorations, while evening practices calm the nervous system and invite deep relaxation. Practicing in this vast natural landscape creates a unique opportunity to reconnect with the rhythm of breath, body, and nature.

Astrology for Self-Discovery & Life Clarity

Astrology becomes a powerful tool for self-reflection during the retreat. Through guided sessions, participants explore the deeper patterns shaping their life journey, including planetary cycles, personal strengths, karmic tendencies, and upcoming phases of growth.

Rather than focusing on prediction, these sessions encourage deeper awareness and conscious decision-making. By understanding the cosmic influences at play, participants gain new perspective on their life path and the opportunities unfolding ahead.

Journey Through Sacred Himalayan Landscapes

Travel slowly through some of Ladakh’s most awe-inspiring regions including Nubra Valley, Pangong Lake, and remote Himalayan villages. Each destination offers a different energy, from vast high-altitude deserts to the stillness of turquoise lakes and ancient mountain passes.

This journey is designed to be more than sightseeing. The immense landscapes of Ladakh naturally invite contemplation, spaciousness, and a deeper connection with both nature and self.

Cultural Immersion & Monastic Wisdom

Experience Ladakh through its living traditions and spiritual heritage. Visits to ancient monasteries and interactions with local communities provide insight into a way of life shaped by simplicity, resilience, and devotion.

Witness centuries-old Buddhist practices, sacred rituals, and the quiet wisdom of mountain culture. These encounters offer a deeper understanding of how spirituality is woven into everyday life in the Himalayas.

Reflection, Silence & Inner Integration

Amidst the movement of the journey, intentional spaces are created for pause and reflection. Sharing circles, moments of silence, and guided reflections allow participants to integrate their experiences more deeply.

Away from constant digital noise and daily distractions, the mind gradually slows down. In this spacious environment, clarity emerges naturally, bringing renewed perspective, emotional balance, and a deeper connection with oneself.

Your Host & Guide – Ashish Jaideva Juyal

My journey into this retreat began in the mountains long before astrology became part of my work.

For over a decade, I worked as an adventure travel guide and expedition organizer in the Himalayas. Through my company, Incredible Outdoors, I led travelers across some of the most dramatic landscapes in India, including motorcycle journeys across the highest motorable passes of Ladakh. Those years were filled with exploration, adventure, and the joy of sharing the mountains with people from around the world.

Yet the mountains also quietly introduced me to a deeper question about life and purpose.

Over time my curiosity shifted from exploring landscapes to understanding the deeper patterns that shape human experience. This led me into the study of Vedic astrology, where I began researching what I often describe as the cosmic intelligence that influences our lives.

Today my work combines both of these worlds.

Through this retreat, I invite participants to experience Ladakh not only as a spectacular travel destination, but also as a powerful environment for self-discovery and reflection. The vast silence of the Himalayas creates a natural space to step away from daily noise and look inward.

During the retreat, I guide participants through astrology-based self-discovery sessions that help explore personal patterns, life cycles, strengths, and challenges. My approach to astrology is grounded in logic and observation rather than blind belief. It is not about prediction, but about gaining clarity and understanding yourself more deeply.

In a world where millions of people watch the same videos and hear the same advice from distant gurus, genuine self-discovery often requires something more personal. Vedic astrology offers a unique way to understand why you are the way you are, and how your life experiences connect to larger cosmic rhythms.

This retreat is an invitation to explore Ladakh through both outer adventure and inner exploration, with wellness and self-awareness at its core.

I look forward to sharing this journey with you.

What to Expect on This Journey

This retreat is designed as both an outer journey through the landscapes of Ladakh and an inner journey of self-discovery. Over nine days, participants move through some of the most remarkable Himalayan environments while engaging in practices that support clarity, balance, and deeper self-understanding.

The experience unfolds gradually. The first days are intentionally slower, allowing the body to gently adapt to the high altitude of Ladakh while settling into the rhythm of the retreat. As the journey progresses, travel through remote valleys, monasteries, and high mountain lakes becomes interwoven with daily practices of yoga, breathwork, reflection, and astrology sessions.

Each day typically begins with morning yoga or breathwork, helping the body awaken and adapt to the environment. These practices support both physical wellbeing and mental clarity as we explore the mountains during the day.

Throughout the retreat, astrology sessions offer an opportunity to explore deeper patterns that shape individual life journeys. These sessions are designed to encourage reflection and self-awareness, helping participants understand personal cycles, strengths, and life themes in a thoughtful and grounded way.

Travel experiences form an important part of the journey as well. Visiting places such as Nubra Valley, Pangong Lake, and ancient Himalayan monasteries offers moments of quiet reflection within vast and powerful landscapes. The natural stillness of Ladakh often creates space for insight that cannot easily emerge within the noise of daily life.

There will also be time for silence, journaling, group conversations, and personal reflection, allowing each participant to integrate the experiences of the retreat at their own pace.

This journey is not about rushing through destinations or seeking quick answers. Instead, it invites you to slow down, observe more deeply, and reconnect with yourself within the vast silence of the Himalayas.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need prior yoga or meditation experience?

No prior experience is required. All yoga, breathwork, and meditation sessions are suitable for beginners as well as experienced practitioners. The practices are gentle, adaptive, and focused on awareness rather than physical intensity.

Is Ladakh safe for international travelers?

Yes. Ladakh is one of the safest regions in India for travelers. The retreat is fully guided with an experienced local team managing transportation, accommodations, and on-ground support throughout the journey

How difficult is the altitude in Ladakh?

Ladakh is a high-altitude region (3,500m+). The itinerary is carefully designed with acclimatization days in Leh to help your body adjust gradually. Breathwork practices, hydration guidance, and slow travel pacing support safe adaptation.

Participants are advised to arrive well-rested and follow provided preparation guidelines before travel.

What type of accommodation can I expect?

Accommodation includes comfortable boutique hotels, traditional lodges, and carefully selected camps depending on location. All stays are clean, safe, and chosen for warmth, comfort, and proximity to nature rather than luxury excess.

Private rooms or shared options may be available depending on booking preference.

What kind of food will be provided?

Fresh vegetarian meals are provided throughout most of the retreat, supporting digestion and energy at high altitude. Meals include local Ladakhi cuisine along with simple international-friendly options.

Dietary requirements such as vegan or gluten-free meals can usually be accommodated with prior notice.

Will there be internet or mobile connectivity?

Connectivity in Ladakh is limited, especially in remote areas like Pangong and Hanle. This intentional digital detox allows deeper rest and presence. Basic connectivity may be available in Leh, but participants are encouraged to embrace reduced screen time.

What is the role of astrology in the retreat?

Astrology sessions are offered as tools for self-reflection and personal insight. They focus on understanding life cycles, strengths, and patterns rather than prediction or belief systems. Participation is open and optional.

Is this retreat physically demanding?

The journey involves scenic drives, light walks, and gentle daily practices. No trekking or extreme physical activity is required. A moderate level of general fitness and openness to travel in mountainous terrain is sufficient.

What should I pack for the retreat?

A detailed packing list will be shared after booking. Generally recommended:

  • Warm layered clothing

  • Comfortable yoga wear

  • Sun protection

  • Personal medications

  • Good walking shoes

Temperatures can vary significantly between day and night.

How large is the retreat group?

Group sizes are intentionally kept small to maintain a personal and supportive experience, allowing meaningful interaction and individual attention during sessions.

Is travel insurance required?

Yes, comprehensive travel insurance covering medical emergencies and high-altitude travel is strongly recommended for all international participants.

Can I come alone?

Absolutely. Many participants join solo. The retreat environment naturally encourages connection while also respecting personal space and introspection.

What makes this retreat different from a regular Ladakh tour?

This is not a sightseeing-focused trip. The journey combines conscious travel, yoga, breathwork, astrology, and reflection practices designed to support inner clarity alongside exploration of Ladakh’s landscapes.

The Mountains Called, I Listened

Something kept pulling me towards this retreat and I finally listened. Best decision. The combination of yoga practice with Himalayan travel is genius. You're constantly moving between external exploration and internal discovery. Morning yoga energized the day. Meditation at Pangong Lake changed something fundamental in me - can't explain it, you have to experience it. Astrology sessions helped me understand life cycles I'm moving through. Hanle stargazing was humbling, makes you realize how small we are. Simple food, decent rooms, amazing experiences. Well planned schedule that balanced activities perfectly. Come here if you're ready for change, the mountains will help you along.

Worth Every Rupee

I did a lot of research before booking this and so glad I chose Incredible Outdoors. The itinerary balance is perfect - enough activities to stay engaged, enough rest to not feel exhausted. Yoga sessions were professional and well-adapted for altitude. Breathwork really helped with acclimatization. Astrology workshops were surprisingly deep and personal. Khardung La, Nubra, Pangong, Hanle - each place topped the previous one. Sunset at Shanti Stupa on day 1 set beautiful expectations. The food was home-style and good. The team was experienced and friendly. Only suggestion - add one extra day at Pangong because leaving felt too soon. Everything else was spot on.

Small Group, Big Impact

What I loved most was the small group size. We were only 12 people so everything felt intimate and personal. Daily yoga sessions felt like practicing with friends. Astrology workshops were interactive, we could ask questions and share experiences. The spiritual discussions went deep because everyone felt safe to open up. Monasteries were peaceful, Pangong was breathtaking, Hanle was otherworldly. Accommodation and food were good enough, nothing fancy but clean and comfortable. The instructors became friends by day three. Long drives gave us time to process everything. Left with a tribe, not just memories. Highly recommended for solo travelers.

New experience in my life

Never been comfortable with silence but that was kind of the point I guess. The retreat pushed me gently into it - meditation sessions got longer, night circles had silent moments, Hanle was all about quiet observation. Initially uncomfortable, then liberating. Yoga helped ground all that internal noise. Breathwork at Khardung La was intense. Astrology sessions made me look at my life patterns differently. Pangong Lake is another world, photos don't capture the feeling. The team was patient with my hundred questions. The food was good, the rooms were okay.

Beauty Meets Practice

As a yoga teacher myself, I was curious about this retreat format. Really impressed with how they structured it - good balance between practice, travel, and rest. Instructors were skilled and knew how to modify for altitude challenges. The astrology addition was unique and surprisingly relevant. Each session connected to what we were experiencing in the landscape. Hemis Monastery had such powerful energy, meditation there was deep. In Pangong, watching the sunrise was my personal highlight. Accommodations were simple but adequate. Food could use more variety but was nutritious. Solid retreat for anyone serious about both travel and practice.
